Sixth class were treated to an amazing walk through local history today as John took us on a tour of the old mill. It's a beautiful building, housing an amazing reconstructed working mill, dating back before local records began, to the 1700's. The impressive engineering and architecture is mind-blowing! The direct connection to children's families was highlighted by John, with the Delahunty and Dunphy names written into the ledgers. John showed us how the mill works, naming all the parts of machinery as we went. Everything was constructed from wood, stone and metal, no plastic in sight, built to last, and eco friendly.
